Defendant, a medical professional, is sued in Federal Court, along with others, by a Gilead Sciences Inc under the Civil R.I.C.O. statute, for alleged involvement in a multi-million dollar fraudulent scheme. In an Anti-Counterfeiting suit, Gilead alleges that the Defendants sold, marketed, and distributed counterfeits of its HIV medications. The lawsuit alleges about $250 million worth of fake HIV pills were sold over the course of about two years. Plaintiff is seeking punitive damages of no less than $25 million from each defendant.
